Percussive therapy (massage guns) works by delivering rapid, localized pressure pulses into muscle tissue. This is thought to temporarily increase local blood flow and stimulate mechanoreceptors (pressure-sensing nerve endings), which can reduce the perception of muscle soreness after exercise. Research on percussive therapy is still fairly new, but early studies show short-term improvements in perceived soreness and flexibility, particularly when used shortly after activity.

Posture correctors work through proprioception — your body's sense of its own position in space. By gently pulling the shoulders back, these devices create a physical cue that reminds you to adjust your posture throughout the day. Importantly, correctors are a reminder tool, not a strength-building one; the muscles that actually hold good posture (upper back and core) still need to be trained through exercise for lasting change.

Acupressure deserves an honest note. It originates from traditional Chinese medicine's model of meridians and qi — energy pathways that have not been identified as physical structures in Western anatomy or validated by peer-reviewed research. That said, the physical act of applying firm, sustained pressure to muscles does have a real, measurable effect: it can reduce localized muscle tension and trigger a relaxation response, similar to other forms of massage.
